Herman Eugene "Gene" Gordon, 80, of Owensboro passed away January 24, 2016 at his home. Born on February 4, 1935 to the late Henry Herman and Dessie McDaniel Gordon, he attended Daviess County High School. Later he worked with his father who owned HH Gordon & Son Produce Co. and eventually took the business over. After several years of working in the produce industry, Gene laid it aside and took a position at Glenmore Distillery in Bottling Maintenance and after 25 years, retired. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed a challenge such as building the home where he and his wife, Ann, of 38 years spent most of their life. He was a member of TPA, the Indian Relic Club, the Mineral and Fossil Club, the Maceo Concerned Citizen Group and Daviess County Fish and Game. Gene loved his family and was a great husband, father, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Clark, and son-in-law, Patrick Aull.
Gene is survived by his wife, Mary "Ann" Simmons Gordon; daughters, Lisa Alloway and her husband, Allen of Spartanburg, S.C., Sandra Mora and her husband, Ron, of Escondido, CA, Erica Simmons of Owensboro; sons, Kevin Gordon of Phoenix, AZ., Byron Gordon of Owensboro, Greg Gordon and his wife Christy, of Owensboro, Richard Gordon of Lexington, and Allen Boyd of Mt. Vernon, IN; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Ward and her husband, Donald; brother-in-law, Bill Clark; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 12:00pm Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Immaculate Catholic Church, 2516 Christie Pl, Owensboro, KY 42301 where visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service.
