Herman C. Baskett

Herman Dink Baskett, 83, of 3007 Sterling Court, Owensboro, KY died Thursday June 28, 2001 at Hermitage Nursing Home. He was born November 29, 2001 in Daviess County, Kentucky, son of the late Ernest and Ursa Delle Jones Baskett.

He was retired from Field Packing Company as manager of field farms. He was a member of South Hampton Baptist Church and attended Settle Memorial United Methodist Church where he belonged to the Open Door Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a bombadier on B17s with the 8th Air Force. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Baskett and a daughter, Nell Baskett.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Baskett; a son, Bob Baskett of Pee Wee Valey, KY; a daughter, Lynn Baskett of Owensboro; two grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Harrison of Owensboro.

Funeral services are 11:30 A.M., Monday, July 2, 2001 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-6 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2001 and after 10 A.M., Monday, July 2.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wendell Foster Center.
