Stowers, Herbert Lee, age 99, a long time Owensboro resident, passed away on 12/22/07 in Knoxville, TN. Mr. Stowers was born in Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1933. He joined the newly formed Texas Gas Transmission in 1949 as Chief Engineer and was instrumental in the construction of their original pipeline system. He retired in 1973 as vice president of engineering. He later served as chairman of the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission for four years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rubye Stowers in 2002. Mr. Stowers is survived by his children, Herbert Lee (Johnny) Stowers, Jr. of Kerrville, TX, Gerald Stowers and wife Dee of San Antonio, TX, Geraldine (Deana) Hoffman and husband Carl of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, David Hoffman, Gerald Stowers Jr. and Rebecca Henry; great grandsons Nathan Henry, Andrew Hoffman and Landon Stowers; brothers, Raymond Stowers of Ogden, UT and Jack Stowers of Oklahoma City, OK; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6PM - 8PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Owensboro.
