Herbert J. Sorg

Herbert J. Sorg, 94, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Sorg was born October 14, 1922 in Daviess County to the late Alfred and Esther Kaze Sorg. Herb was an intelligent and compassionate man with a great sense of humor who faithfully exercised every day. He loved the out of doors, especially mowing and gardening on his small farm. Herb was a huge fan of U.K. basketball and enjoyed playing golf at Windridge Country Club where he was a founding member. Many knew him through his career as an electrician and member of the IBEW and NECA. He was a Manager and Vice President of the former DynaElectric of Owensboro.

Mr. Sorg was preceded in death by his son, Herbert "Michael" Sorg in 1989 and a brother, Alfred Sorg.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Carol Sorg; daughter, Susan Truitt and husband Joe of Owensboro; his five grandchildren, Carrie Carter (Jarrod), Todd Truitt, Jamie Truitt (Rachael), Michael's children, Scott Sorg of North Carolina and Doug Sorg of Owensboro; 8 great grandchildren; a niece and nephew.

A private family service will be held at Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Carter officiating. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
