Henry Paul Zimmer, 68, of Owensboro passed away suddenly Saturday, September 26, 2009 at his home. Born February 19, 1941 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Henry Peter and Gisela Zimmer and the step-son of the late, Ruth Gangloff Zimmer. Mr. Zimmer retired from the United Way after nearly 40 years service across the country including the Executive Director of the Owensboro United Way. He was also a member of the morning Rotary, receiving the 2009 Rotarian of the Year Award; and was also active in Toastmasters, the Blue Ridge Institute, the World Affairs Council.
He is survived by his daughters: Kenna Zimmer of New York City and Amy Zimmer of Santiago, Chile and their mother, Barbara Zimmer of Murrells Inlet, SC; step-brothers and step-sisters: Sr. Fran Gangloff of Buffalo, NY, Sr. Joanne Gangloff of Kenya, East Africa, Rosemary and John Gangloff of Roscoe, IL and Judy and George Gangloff of Depew, NY; cousins Phil and Inge Holland and Bart Holland of St. Louis, MO, and Bret & Cris Holland and daughters, of Chicago, IL; and special friends Ruthann Ritchie of Newburgh, IN and Marty Higdon of Owensboro, KY.
Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m.
