Henry Leemon Smith, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Wellington Parc. He was born in Ohio Co., Ky. to the late J. Wilbur and Jessie Carden Smith. He was retired from Owensboro Municipal Utilities after 29 years and was a member of Third Baptist Church. He was also a 50 year member of the Owensboro Masonic Lodge #130 and one of the last two members of the High 12 Club. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying, used to race stock cars and enjoyed Nascar and Kentucky Basketball.
Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Ida O. Dolly Smith, two daughters, Sharon Rowland and husband Mitch of Hendersonville, Tn. and Charlotte Miller and husband Jim of Murfreesboro, Tn., three stepdaughters, Terri Nation and husband Donnie, Karen Estes and husband Steve, and Tammy Moseley and husband Tommy, all of Owensboro, a stepson, Jerry Minton and Jamie of Owensboro, a sister, Mary Brunner of Owensboro, 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 9, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
