Henry Daniel Roach

Henry Daniel Roach, Jr. 79, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Ohio County on June 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Henry Daniel and Emma Evans Roach; was a member of the First General Baptist Church; and served in the Naval Reserve. Mr. Roach retired from the Owensboro Police Department as a Lieutenant after 28 years of service. He then pursued his favorite career as a farmer and raising and showing American Quarter Horses. But most importantly, the twinkle in his eye and the smile on his face were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored. Mr. Roach was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 16, the Owensboro Masonic Lodge #30 F&AM, the American Quarter Horse Association and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Ruth Pate Roach; a son, Danny Lynn (Kathi) Roach and a daughter, Dana Ruth Roach both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Christi Kay (Todd) Henderson, Aaron Daniel (Amy) Roach; great-grandchildren, Hunter Todd Henderson and Abigail Jo Roach; brothers, Bob Roach and friend Alene, Ivan (Coletta) Roach, and John (Joyce) Roach all of Fordsville, and Fred (Linda) Roach of Zuni, VA; sisters, Peggy (Glenn) Harder of Dundee, Mary Philpot of Hartford, and Susan (Randy) Pulliam of Hawesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Revs. Dale Hartline and Bob Kennedy officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
