Henry Fields Patton, 86, of Owensboro, passed away at his home on August 28, 2013. He was born in Daviess County to the late Guy and Pearl Patton.
Henry was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran.
He was employed as a truck driver at Owensboro Milling Company for 32 years. Henry retired when a division of the plant closed. He was a member of Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and a very generous man.
Henry thoroughly enjoyed cars and teaching his children and grandchildren about mechanical things. He was very involved in racing and it became a theme for the whole family. He enjoyed hauling cars with his winch truck and spent a good deal of time at the track in Whitesville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Henry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary C. Patton; a daughter, Patty Fitzgerald (Carl, Sr.) of Owensboro; sons, David Patton, Sr. (Mary) of Masonville and Robert Patton, Sr. (Martha) of Owensboro; sister, Shirley Early of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren, David, Jr., James, Jason, Carl, Jr., Lisa, Kevin, Kayla, Bobby, Jr., Shelly; and 13 great grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be at 10 AM on Saturday, August 31, at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Carl McCarthy will officiate and burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 PM (with prayers at 6:30 PM) at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
