Rev. Henry Everett Delk, 88, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away quickly and peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Wellington Parc in Owensboro. He was born in Phil, Kentucky to the late James Marion and Flora (Wilkerson) Delk.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Henry was a 1961 graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. He was a pastor of 12 churches within 3 states and baptized 129 people for Jesus over the course of a 54 year career. He was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Owensboro.
He was a people person. He liked telling stories and sharing the love of Jesus. He enjoyed boxing and was an avid fisherman. He always loved spending time with his family and friends.and, of course, his biscuits and gravy.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ersie Pearl (Beasley) Delk in 2010; five sisters, Alpha White (Hershel), Elsie Jasper (Lewis), Ida Dick (Coy), Eula Rubarts (Hollis) and Emma Jasper (Newt) and a brother, Marvin Delk (Hazel).
He is survived by three daughters, Jean Rickard (Larry), Anna Gage (Tom), Rebecca Stafford (Mark) and one son, Terry Delk (Melody); ten grandchildren, Ginny Lou Carmony (Pete), Lisa Klokner (Barry), Jennifer Lynn Spencer ("Spencer"), Cindy Hibbard, Cynthia Prather, Tanya Price (Jason), Kristen Lawson (Russell), Jerry Brooker, John Bess and Scott Delk; and twelve great-grandchildren, Amy Carmony, Mindy Cosby (Ryan), Ryan Klokner, Justin Klokner, Angel Spencer, Carter Hibbard, Kenton Hibbard, Morgan Price, Maribel Price, Ailie Price, Gracie Pearl Lawson and Brilie Rose Lawson; one great-great grandson, Neyland Cosby; a sister, Olean Rader; a brother, Herman Delk (Mavis); and many SPECIAL nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18 at Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs, Kentucky. Rev. Arnold Moon will officiate. Burial will be at Wilkerson Cemetery in Russell Springs following the service. The visitation at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday. Visitation at Bernard Funeral Home will be on Friday from 4-8 PM and on Saturday after 11 AM.
