Henry Dee ''H. D.'' Basham Jr., 91, of Roanoke died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, Va. He was born in Daviess County on Nov. 16, 1915, where he resided for 88 years. He was the son of the late Henry Dee Basham Sr. and Carrie Owen Basham. He retired from Wright Machine Company with 38 years of service. He was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a member of the Lions Club of Daviess County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Ward Basham in 2000; his brother, Owen Basham; and sisters, Mary Krauss and Ruby Bishop.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Owen Dee Basham Esq. and Carol Basham of Leesburg, Va., John and Gail Basham of Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dr. David Grantier of Acworth, Ga., Drs. Martha and Kenneth Reifsnider of Storrs, Conn., Bonnie and Ronald Beck of Bowling Green, Marilyn and Doug Robinson of Riverside, Calif., and Patsy and Berlie Bowman of Roanoke; 14 grandchildren, William Jordan of Merrimack, N.H., Anne Jordan Shelton of Charlotte, N.C., Susan Jordan Carroll of Swanee, Ga., Monica Johnson Cormier of Raleigh, N.C., Matthew Beck of St. Petersburg, Fla., Lori Beck Graves of Newburgh, Ind., Jennifer Loyal Young of Owensboro, Andrew Basham of Falls Church, Va., Taylor Loyal of Nashville, Mary Beth Loyal of Riverside, Wil Loyal of Richmond, Harrison Basham of Roanoke, Owen Martin Basham of Leesburg and Leigh Basham of Roanoke; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carol Owen officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
