Helene S. Acton

Helene Acton, 74, of Pleasant Ridge, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born February 1, 1936 to the late Robert and Ruthie Lucas Stevson in Ohio County. She had worked as a Head Start Teacher for the Daviess County Board of Education, was a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She enjoyed quilting, working crossword puzzles, fishing, and watching soaps on TV.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marcia Acton and Pamela J. Acton, and four brothers, Robert, Samuel, James and Craig Stevson, three sisters, Clara Maddox, Anna Daily, and Bessie Casey.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Golden W. Acton, Sr.; six sons, Darrell G. Stevenson, Roger L. (Vicky) Acton, Michael W. Acton, Timothy D. Acton, Jeffrey E. (Susan) Acton, and Golden W. Acton, Jr., two step-daughters, Lourese "Rese" (Oscar) James and Evelyn Dean, all of Owensboro; 21 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
