Helen Lucille Strong, 97, of Owensboro passed away peacefully on August 22, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born August 14, 1918 in Owensboro to the late Richard and Catherine Johnson Hays.

Helen was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a recent member of Immaculate Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing golf with her husband for many years and was an avid bridge player. She was a faithful patron of Riverpark Center, Goldie's, and Theater Workshop of Owensboro.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Thomas Strong, Sr.; a daughter, Cheryle Ann Bartley; and her siblings: Mary Rushing, Richard ''Junie'' Hays, Lydia Catherine Hagan, Martha Jones, Theresa Henderson and Charles Hays.

She is survived by her daughter Nannette Parish (Ed) and son Bill Strong (Marilyn), both of Owensboro.; seven grandchildren: Kim Bartley of Columbus OH, Tommy Bartley (Nicci) of Melborne FL, Allyson Renfrow (Jeff) of Owensboro, Shayne Parish (Rachel) of Cambellsville, KY , Tiffany Medley (Slater) of Louisville, Nicklaus Strong and Connie Strong both of Owensboro; ten great-grandchildren: Amanda Bartley, Brandon Bartley, Dakota Renfrow, Kolton Renfrow, Jax Parish, Katy Parish, Logan Archer Parish, Ava Medley, William Medley, and John Clayton Medley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 25 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 PM, with prayers at 7:30, and after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
