Helen Iris Starke

Helen Iris Starke, 87, of Owensboro died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Frankfort, KY, a daughter of the late Richard Herschel and Zelda Mae Wood Williams, Mrs. Starke was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, a former member of the Younger Womans Club, operated and taught a private kindergarten, was active with the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed fine needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael C. Starke, Jr., and her brother, James Allen Willlams, both in 1992.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Washington and her husband Larry, of Owensboro; her grandsons, John A. Washington and his wife Jane of Versailles, and Michael L. Washington and his wife Sans of Owensboro; and her great-grandchildren, William Augustine Washington, Benjamin Stallard Washington, Anne Lawrence Washington, John Graham Washington, and Katharine Ann Washington.

Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, where a private service will be held in Christ Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Glenn Sowards and the Rev. Todd Love.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
