Helen Demetrea Ranson

Helen Demetrea Ranson, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on January 23, 1930 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Andrew "Jake" and Mildred Saalwaechter Pappas. She was retired as an administrative assistant with National Southwire Aluminum and had been attending Bridgepointe Church. For many years, she had been a member of Seven Hills Baptist Church where she raised her family. Helen was a very loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. She also enjoyed taking cruises, watching U.K. basketball and professional tennis. She had worked as a volunteer with the Owensboro Chamber of Commerce for several years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, M. Ray Alford in 2000 and Wilda Ranson on June 2, 1969.

Helen was survived by four daughters, Norma Jean (Larry) Osborn of Seminole, FL, and Billie Gail (Gerald) Hendrix, Mildred Kay (Bill) Pence, and Mary Helen (Pat) Henning, all of Owensboro, a son, Gary Ranson of Owensboro, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a brother, George Pappas of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 28 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 8:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
