Helen Louise Newton

Helen Louise Newton, 76, of Becklynn Drive, in Owensboro went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. She was born August 31, 1933 to the late Otis and Ione Swain in Daviess County, being the youngest of twelve children. Helen retired as a quality control inspector from Owens Illinois Glass in Chicago Heights, IL after 25 years of employment where she was active in the union as a steward and treasurer. She was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed praising the Lord and gospel music. Helen was a very creative individual and an artist who enjoyed oil and water color painting. She was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing gospel music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Morris Newton, Jr.; her sons, Ronald Newton and his wife, Evelyn of Steger, IL, and Morris Newton, III, of Salem, MO; two sisters, Doris Kissell of Evansville, IN, and Jean Gregory of FL; five grandchildren, Ronnie Newton, Jr., Melissa Spinazzola and her husband, Tony, Gary Newton, Michael Newton and his wife, Vanessa, and Jake Newton, all of IL; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10:00 AM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, and after 8:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, 1225 West Third Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
