Helen Norris Neal

October 21, 1920 — January 8, 2017

Helen Norris Neal, 96, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mrs. Neal was born October 21, 1920 in Daviess County to the late John Granvill and Bertha Sweeney Norris. She was a graduate of Daviess County High School and a former employee of Ken Rad. One of her greatest joys was spending time with all her family and many friends.

Mrs. Neal was dedicated to her Catholic faith, the Blessed Mother and the rosary. She was a promoter of the Miraculous Medal and a devoted member of Immaculate Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was especially thankful to Father Tony Jones and Byron and Lucy Rhoades in helping her to continue living her faith through the Immaculate Catholic Church.

Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husband of 51years, Rexford Bimer Neal (Major; Retired) who passed away in January 1996. She and her husband Rex traveled abroad (Europe) and traveled extensively in the United States during his 20 year military career. Aside from her parents and husband, Mrs. Neal was also preceded in death by her son, Patrick Neal; a sister; Julia Norris; and two brothers; Herbert J. Norris and Charles (Earl) Norris.

Survivors include her sons, John Rexford Neal and wife Becky of Owensboro, Robert Lewis Neal and wife Anna of Whitesville; daughters, Donna Lee Speray and husband Jim of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Debbie Ann Hanson and husband Bob of Madisonville; sister, Aliene Sosh of Miami, Arizona, 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Mass will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with prayers at 5:30 PM and Wednesday after 8:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Immaculate Catholic Church.
