Helen Simpson Mcelwain

Helen Simpson McElwain passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Heartland Villas in Lewisport. Born April 15, 1914 in Quincy, MA, Mrs. McElwain was the daughter of the late Edmond A. and Helen Simpson Rice; was church secretary for Trinity Episcopal Church for over 20 years; and was a member of the Saturday Musical Club for 10 years and was a volunteer at the HELP Office. She was preceded in death by her husband Macmillan McElwain in 1994; grandsons, Eric Thompson and Warren McElwain in 1976 and 1996 respectively; and a son-in-law, Dorsey Thompson, Jr. in 2005.

Mrs. McElwain is survived by a daughter, Lois Thompson of Owensboro; a son, Jack (and his wife Carol) McElwain of Nashville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 P.M. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Trinity Episcopal Church. There will be no visitation. Glenn Funeral Home is handling arrangements
