Helen W. Jollay, 90, of Owensboro, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, May 21, 2010, at her home. She was born June 11, 1919 to the late Henry and Myrtle Harrison Coons in Daviess County. She was a member of Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church and sang with her sisters and family in revivals, singing gospel music. She was a member of God's Christian Women, and enjoyed sewing and embroidering.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Jollay in 1985, two sisters, Elizabeth Crisp and Anna Booker, and a brother, Henry Coons, Jr.
Survivors include her sons, Jim Jollay and Jeff Jollay and his wife, Shannon, all of Owensboro, her daughters, Barbara Sparks and her husband, Claude, Sr. of Sorgho, and Brenda Millay and her husband, Jerry of Masonville; five grandchildren, Claude Sparks, Jr., Lisa Simpson, Jacob Jollay, Jerry Millay, II, Stephanie Houser; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Emma Blincoe of Owensboro.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and after 8:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
