Helen A. Carter, 83, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. The Daviess County native was born March 24, 1941, to the late Ishmael Wall and Mary Galloway Wall. Helen graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy. She was employed in the cafeteria at Brescia College before gaining her CDL license and driving trucks for Miles Farm Supply. Helen later worked security at the Lincoln Mall. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed crocheting, making dolls and clothing for her grandchildren, and collecting porcelain angels. Helen loved her family and like most grandmothers, especially her grandkids and great grandkids.
In addition to her parents, Helen also was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Carter Sr. in 1993; an infant daughter, Thelma Carter in 1958; brothers, Noble “Tony” Wall, Robert Wall, and Carl Wall; sister, Mary Morris.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ernie “Butch” Carter (Debbie) of Owensboro; daughter, Debbie Wilkerson (Ray) of Bowling Green; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; sister, Virginia Bowlds of Philpot; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be noon Saturday, July 13 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with same day visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
