Helen M. Barrow

Helen M. Barrow, 76, of Owensboro, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on March 23, 1935 in Evansville, IN to the late Bryant B. and Velma M. Vanover Stone. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Moose Lodge. She attended and graduated from Owensboro Tech High and nursing school in Springfield, OH. Helen retired as a registered nurse from Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after 15 years. She was married to Bobby Joe Barrow for 44 years until his death on June 5, 2003. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them especially her grandsons. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ray Poynter in 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Barrow-Karthman (LeRoy) of Bardstown, and a son, John Bennett Barrow (Teresa) of Pellville, three grandsons, Bryant Barrow of Owensboro, and Nicholas and Addison Karthman, both of Bardstown, a brother, John Thomas Poynter of Cypress, CA, two sisters, Fonda Lee Snyder of Frankfort and Amelia Alice Butler of Richland, IN., and a very close and longtime friend who was always there for her, Elizabeth Francis of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
