Hazel G. Porter

August 18, 1925 — November 29, 2001

Hazel G. Porter, 76, of 2505 Middleground Drive, Owensboro, died Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Daviess County on August 18, 1925 the daughter of Ulysses Jack Goodwin and Blanche Clouse Jarboe. Her husband, John T. Porter preceded her in death on September 26, 1998.

Mrs. Porter was retired from Andersons department stores and McAtees department stores as a cosmetologist and was a member of Masonville Baptist Church. She was a member of Tabitha Sunday School Class, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharron M. Young and Darlina McBride Etienne, both of Owensboro; a stepson, Dr. Johnny Porter of Metairie, LA; a step-daughter, Sharon L. Kelly of Dixon; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her step-father, Guy I. Jarboe of Owensboro; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Father Timothy Sweeney. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2001 and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.
