Hattie Jane Preston McMahan, 85, of Utica, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Born in Breckinridge County, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Minnie Jane Whitten Preston; was a faithful member of the Masonville Baptist Church where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class; and was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, UK basketball, gardening, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Hattie was a fantastic cook and enjoyed camping. She rode cross country with her husband on their motorcycle for thousands of miles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon E. McMahan, Sr.; a son, Larry W. McMahan; a daughter, Tina McMahan; brothers and sisters, Estil "Buck" Preston, Esther "Sis" Wright, William Earl "Fuzzy" Preston, Willis "Shorty" Preston, and Effie Edge
She is survived by a son, Vernon E. (Sharon) McMahan, Jr. of Owensboro; daughter, Karen King of Versailles; grandchildren, Rachel, Justin, Lyndsey, Ashley, Chelsey, Bailey, Andrew, Ryan, Marisa, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Walker, Keira, Daylan, Rylie, Karsyn, and Ava
The service will be 12 noon Saturday, November 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8PM Friday and after 11AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
