Hartsel Hughes Stovall

May 9, 1942 — March 28, 2015

Hartsel Hughes Stovall, 72, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 28, 2015. He was born on May 9, 1942 to Altha & Dovie Stovall. Hartsel is celebrating with Jesus today, as he had given his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He served his Lord faithfully at several churches. Currently he was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Bible Study Teacher and Moderator. What was important to him was not what he had done for Jesus but what Jesus had done for him!

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Rita Ragland Stovall. Others survivors include daughters Tonya (Eugene) Howard and Sandy (David) Miller of Owensboro. Grandchildren Whitney (Austin) Rion, Kordell Miller, Meredith Howard, Abbey Jo Miller, Amelia Miller and great grandchild Mckynlee Rion. He is also survived by siblings Agnes Stovall, Genon McDonald, Nancy Redfern, Alnetta Steele and Bob Stovall. Also there are many nieces and nephews along with Papaw's four-legged girl Weeko.

Hartsel was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Charles A. and Gaynell Stovall.

He served his country faithfully in the US Army on active duty in 1964-66 and in the reserves 1966-68, reaching the rank of E6. In 1967 he received his Barbering License and worked in the same shop for 48 years and has owned it since 1972, Stovall's Barber Shop. His daughter Sandy has been barbering with him since 1997. He also served on the Kentucky Board of Barbering for the past 13 years. He received the honor of being awarded the status of Kentucky Colonel by three different Kentucky Governors.

The visitation will be 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Glenn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. It will be officiated by Bro. Eugene Howard, Bro. David Heady and Bro. Franklin Skaggs.
