Harry Shelby Sutton Jr., 94, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his home. Born in Evansville, IN, the son of the late Harry Shelby Sutton, Sr. and Lula Hays Sutton, he was a graduate of Owensboro High School. He graduated from the University of Kentucky, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, his service included the battle of Okinawa. Mr. Sutton was a 40-year employee of the General Electric Company in Owensboro. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Hays Sutton and his sister Nelrose Sutton.
Surviving Mr. Sutton are his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Birk Sutton; his son William Birk Sutton of Pepper Pike, Ohio; his grandchildren Paul Hays Sutton, Jr., Amy Elizabeth Sutton, Emily Ann Sutton, and Austin Ravetto Sutton; and his great-granddaughter Aubrey Hester. The Sutton family is most appreciative of the care provided by Anderea Bartlett, Tammy Bartlett, Lee Bruner, Patty Marr, JoAnn Gilbert, Lindsey Stone and Martha Taylor
The funeral service for Mr. Sutton will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday and from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
