Harry Kirby

January 1, 1934 — July 13, 2001

Mr. Harry Kirby, 67, of 4486 Strickland Dr., Owensboro, died Friday, July 13, 2001 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy, serving 21 years including a tour in Vietnam. A member of the Baptist faith, he was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Veterans. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and bowling and was a member of the McLean County Fish and Game.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth ''Betty'' Marsh Kirby in 1992. He is survived by a daughter, Vanessa Robertson of Owenbsoro; a son, Jerry Kirby of Owensboro;four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Kirby of Centertown; and 4 sisters, Molly Maglinger, Wanda Coppage, Joann Kirby and Rita Jackson all of Owensboro.

Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, July 16 and after 12 noon on Tuesday, July 17, 2001.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Audubon Elementary School Family Resource Center.
