Harold Gardner "H.G." McKinney

Harold Gardner "H.G." McKinney, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Owensboro. He was born August 27, 1937 in Daviess Co., to the late L. Harold and Alice Josephine Gardner McKinney. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and was a U. S. Army veteran. H.G. was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering. He was retired from Diversified Healthcare, Inc. He was a Kentucky Colonel, an avid U.K. basketball fan, enjoyed fishing and golfing, and was a past president of the Owensboro Civitan Club. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Linda Brannen McKinney on October 30, 2014, an aunt and uncle, Houston and Charlie Howard, and another uncle, Cap Gardner .

H.G. is survived by his daughter, Tammy Hicks and husband Bryan of Evansville, IN, a son, Tyler McKinney and wife Laura of Suwanee, GA, a stepson, Rev. Dr. Jesse M. Brannen and wife Susan of Jacksonville, TX, grandchildren, Hannah and Morgan Hicks of Evansville, Joshua Brannen and wife Taryn of Tyler, TX, Sara Brannen Brown and husband Ed of Tyler, Jesse M. Brannen III of Nashville, TN, and Corbin and Reed McKinney of Suwanee, a great grandson, McCain Lee Brown of Tyler, 2 great granddaughters, Lillian Marie Brown and Vivian Aline Brown of Tyler, cousin, Chris Gardner of Bend, Oregon, Aunt, Gayle Lemon Gardner of Owensboro, and a very special friend, Todd Troutman of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 30, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Peggy Smith officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the U. S. Army and the V.F.W Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
