Harold C. Cannon, 92, of Owensboro (formerly of Kennett, MO and Rector, AR) passed away at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, December 19, 2011. Born in Kennett on May 1, 1919, he was the son of the late Harrison and Maude Chailland Cannon; was retired from the motel business; and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rector, AR. Mr. Cannon was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and earned bronze stars for the Tunisian, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno campaigns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Everett Cannon and Glenn Cannon and a sister, Betha Hamlin.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Mildred Gordon Cannon; sons, Dr. Harold Cannon, Jr. and his wife Julie of Owensboro and Howard Cannon of Little Rock, AR; and grandchildren, Toni Cannon and Hunter Cannon of Lexington, Piper Cannon of Owensboro, Erin King of Austin, TX; and step-grandchildren, Maggie Bartlett and Lilly Bartlett of Owensboro.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Christ Chapel of Owensboro Memorial Gardens with Rev. Allen Shouse officiating followed by burial in the Field of Honor with military honors provided by the Ft. Campbell Honor Guard and VFW Post 696. Visitation will at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity of the donor.
