Harold F. Belcher, 72, of Highway 231, Utica, passed away on Monday November 2, 2009 at his home. He was born on September 8, 1937 to the late Hubert and Hazel Prater Belcher. He was retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #633 where he was still a member after 49 years. He was an instructor for apprentices in the union for about 4 years and had previously served as an officer also. He was a member and active deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he had been the music director at one time and at Bells Run Baptist Church also.
Harold was a very loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and enjoyed spending lots of time with all his family. He was a great provider for his family and an excellent carpenter evident by having built five complete homes for them. He also had built and operated a store in the 1980's in the Buford community on Highway 231 which is now Lambert's Diner. He was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Belcher in 1962 and a daughter, Tammy Wilson in 1992.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Barbara Sharp Belcher, a son, Tony Belcher and wife Jane of Owensboro, a son-in-law, Billy Wilson of Hartford, seven grandchildren, Sara Wilson, Blake Belcher, Katie Wilson, Landon Belcher, Nathan Belcher, Christian Belcher, and Jennifer Belcher, a great grandchild, Ava Belcher, and two brothers, Kenneth Belcher of Pleasant Ridge and James Belcher of Owensboro.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 5 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Barnetts Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio Co. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 12 Noon Thursday at the funeral home.
