Harold Douglas "Andy" Anderson

December 30, 1931 — June 5, 2017

Harold ("Andy") Douglas Anderson, 85, died peacefully at his Louisville, Kentucky home surrounded by family on Monday, June 5, 2017. Mr. Anderson was born December 30, 1931 in Adairville, Kentucky to the late Nicholas Mack and Ethel Brister Anderson and lived many years in Owensboro. He was married for 61 years to Betty Prindle Anderson until she passed away in 2014. Harold proudly served our country in the Navy from 1951 to 1954. He fought in the Korean War on both the destroyer USS Melvin and the destroyer escort USS Backwoods. Harold received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Brescia University and worked for Olympus Corporation selling microscopes to hospitals and universities. He was an avid fisherman and loved the sunny state of Florida, where he spent many of his winters. He was a follower of Christ and member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church as well as First Baptist Church of Lake Wales (FL). Andy served for many years as a Gideon and was also a long-time member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Survivors include his two daughters – Terri Anderson of Dallas, TX and Donna Anderson Grant (David) of Louisville; 4 grandchildren – Amanda Grant Coulter (Scott) and Annalise Anderson all of Louisville; Andrew (Rita) Anderson and Adam Anderson, of Linfen, China.

Harold was a precious man loved by many for his gracious spirit, who never lost his wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed on Earth, but is now celebrating in Heaven.

Services will be Noon Friday, June 9, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Doug Grant officiating. Full military honors will be provided. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
