Hardin Tyler Cook

May 21, 1932 — January 17, 2004

Hardin Tyler Cook, 71, of Owensboro died Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the Owensboro Medical Health Sytem. The Daviess County native was the son of the late Eugene and Amy Rice Cook. He was retired from the Owensboro Fire Department where he was Captain of the Inspection Bureau. Mr. Cook was a member of the Masonville Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, music director, and Sunday School director and teacher,. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, boating, watching UK Basketball and NASCAR. He especially loved music and had been a member of the Gospel Seekers Quartet. He was preceded in death by two brothers Lyman and Tilman Cook and two sisters, Geraldine Basham and Mary Emogene Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 50years, Shirley Sapp Cook; a son, Timothy Shea Cook of Cross Plains, TN; two daughters, Melanie Hancock and Alicia Cook both of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Amanda and Tyler Shea Cook, Lynell Frey and Gary and William Hancock; five great-grandchildren, Whitney, Keely and Landon Frey, and Evan Hancock and Jordan Hancock; two sisters, Anna Tootsie Tucker of Masonville, and Kathleen Lancaster of Owensboro.


Funeral service are 11 A.M. Monday at Masonville Baptist Church with Reverends Gates Bowman and Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Sorgho Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 1-6 P.M. on Sunday and after 9 A.M. Monday at the Masonville Baptist Church.
