Hal Joseph Johnson 74 of Owensboro passed away July 23, 2014 at Carmel Home with His Family by His side. He was born March 1, 1940, to the late William A. ''Bill'' Johnson Sr., and Josephine ''Jo'' Gropp Johnson in Daviess County. Ky.
He graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1958 and Bellermine College in 1962 and enlisted in the U. S. Navy.
Hal was Co-Owner of Johnson Electric Co, Owensboro Electric Supply Co and Midwest Electric Supply Co retiring in 2005. He was a very active member of Immaculate Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing, UK Basketball, volunteering at the St Benedict Shelter, Owensboro Catholic Schools, Eurchristic adoration at Carmel Home, and being with family, especially his grandchildren.
Hal was preceded in death by two brothers Tommy Johnson in 1953 and Jerry Johnson in 2012. Survivors include His Son Hal Jr. and wife Robin and three special grandchildren, Matt, Elizabeth, and Mary Katherine Johnson, and two brothers, William A ''Bill'' Johnson Jr. and wife June, Peter C Johnson and wife Patty, and one sister Cloa Johnson Thompson and husband Mike and a sister-in-law Sue Gayle Johnson, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the Sisters, Nurses, and Staff at Carmel Home for the wonderful, loving care and kindness given to Hal.
Funeral Services will be 10am Friday July 25, 2014 at Immaculate Catholic Church with the Fathers Tony Jones and Ed Bradley officiating.
Visitation will be 3-7 pm Thursday July 24, 2014 with prayers at 6pm, and after 8:30am on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, Ky, 42303, envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
