Gusta Rhodes Johnston

Gusta Rhodes Johnston, 80, of 1309 Coventry Lane, Owensboro, died Monday, February 17, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Linn City, KY on March 21, 1922 the daughter of James and Gordia Felty Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James William Stewart, in 1966; and her second husband, Edgar Franklin Johnston, in 1996.

Mrs. Johnston retired from K-mart and had worked at General Electric. She was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church in Owensboro and was past member of Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Stewart of Louisville and Bob Stewart of Neptune Beach, FL; a daughter, Frances Crossley of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Willis Rhodes of Madisonville and Delbert Rhodes of Boonville, IN; a sister, Margaret Walton of Owensboro; several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Graveside services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Oddfellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Her family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Glenn Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville.
