Gregory A. Waninger, 54, of Owensboro, died Saturday in Louisville. He was a sales manager for Kenway Distributors for 38 years. Greg was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and a member of the Immaculate Men's Club for 30 years. He loved sports, golfing at Windridge Golf Course, following U. K. Wildcats, St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and coaching little league when his children were growing up. He was a great cornhole player and enjoyed working on his fish pond. He always had a smile on his face, enjoyed making people laugh, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Paul Lewis Waninger, on March 16, 1993.
Surviving is his loving wife of 34 years, Kennetha Waninger, sons, Nicholas (Miranda) Waninger, Nathan Waninger and fiance Lauren Mehlbauer, and daughter, Natalie (Justin) Clatterbuck, his mother Nola Waninger, and grandchildren, Collin Waninger, Gracie Waninger, Paris Hoheimer, Mikayla Waninger, and Jackson Waninger, all of Owensboro, a sister, Pam (Ralph) Ruschell of Lexington, and a brother, Steve (Lisa) Waninger of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m., and also after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Owensboro Catholic Schools.
