Gracie Louise Johnson, 77, of 521 Elm St., Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Hancock Co., Ky. to the late James Roland and Lena Rumsey Prewitt. She had worked as a Nanny for Dr. Tom Maddox's family for 35 years having retired in 2007. She attended Asbury United Methodist Church and loved spending time with all her family and friends especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, fishing, and vegetable and flower gardening. She was also preceded in death by a son, George Bonds in 2001, two sisters, Lena Catherine Johnson and Bessie Lee Adams, and a brother, Willie Roland.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, James "Jay" Johnson, a son, Jimmy Byrd of Owensboro, a daughter, Ernestine Doss of Clarksville, Tn., a daughter-in-law, Vicki Bonds Taylor of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Antonio Tinsley, Tyrren Bonds, Tokiwa Bonds, Ashley Bonds, Keisha Hall, Angel Doss, Kevin Smith, and Tina Smith, 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Stella Mae Miller of Louisville, a brother, James Roland of Louisville, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 10, at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the church.
