Gova Eddie Kessinger, 86, of 1751 E. 26th. St.,Owensboro, died Monday, March 29, 2004 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. The Ohio County native was retired from Glenmore Distillery where he worked for 36 years as a Utility Foreman. He was a member of the Blessed Mother Catholic Church: Veterans of Foreign Wars; and American Legion, was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal and enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Kessinger was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Tunisia, the Po Valley, Naples, Rome, and the North Appenines. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ozetta Montgomery Kessinger in 2001; a step-son, William Sherman Pickrell in 1995; and a brother, Raymond Kessinger.
Survivors include his 2 sisters, Patricia Kessinger of Hopedale, Il, and Mary Sue Frank of Owensboro, 3 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services are 10:00 A.M.Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00-8:00 P.M.on Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M.on Thursday. Prayers will be said at 5:30 P.M Wednesday at the funeral home.
