Gordon Whitehouse, 91, of Philpot, Kentucky, went home to join our Lord, Friday June 24th, 2016. He was born in Narrows, Kentucky on February 5, 1925 to Joel T. Whitehouse and Eva (Gentry) Whitehouse. As the fifth and youngest child, he came into a family of Christian love. In 1946, after his military service during World War II, he returned to Kentucky and met the great love of his life, Mary Rose Lindsey. They married in 1948. The young couple moved to Philpot, Kentucky and raised eight children. He retired from South Central Bell, where he worked as a lineman, cable splicer, and repairman. In 1964, he was placed in management where he continued until he retired in 1980. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, American Legion and the Daviess County Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Rose and grandson, Joseph Whitehouse.
Mr. Whitehouse is survived by his children, Colleen (Don) Turner of Westfield, Indiana, Bruce (Sandy) Whitehouse of Philpot, Kentucky, Brenda (Mike) Young of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, Shannon (David) Boarman of Philpot, Kentucky, Dennis (Gayla) Whitehouse of Philpot, Kentucky, Mark (Margaret) Whitehouse of Utica, Kentucky, Beverly Nelson, of Gainesville, Florida, and Richard (Lori) Whitehouse, of Philpot, Kentucky; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 AM Monday, June 27 at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Carl McCarthy will officiate with burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 6 PM, with prayers at 4:30, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
