Golda Alyene Damin

Golda Alyene Whitaker Damin, 94, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Wellington Parc. Born in Livermore on August 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Katie Howard Whitaker; was a 1934 graduate of Livermore High School and Secretarial School in Washington, DC; and worked for the FBI and Riggs National Bank in Washington. She and her husband also owned and operated a motel in Havre De Grace, MD until 1969. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sharpe D. Karper; brothers, C.W. Whitaker and Robert Whitaker; and a sister, Helen Purcell.

Surviving are her husband of 25 years, James E. Damin; step-children, Martha (Tom) Mason, Dale (Mary Kay) Damin, Nancy (Glenn) Porter, Richard (Brenda) Damin, Darlena (James) Cook, John Damin, James Damin, and Walter Damin; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Kaye (Ed) Wink, Barbara (Loney) Parsley, Bill (Joyce) Carpenter, Roger (Cathy) Carpenter, Dotty (Don) Woolen, Kurt Whitaker, and Paula Whitaker.

Service are private with Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory handling arrangements. Burial with be in Oakhill Cemetery in Livermore.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
