Gloria Margaret Burcham

Gloria Margaret Burcham, 86, of Owensboro passed away Saturday March 22, 2014 at Wellington Parc. Born in Daviess County, a daughter of the late Paul John and Ava Harl Froehlich, Gloria graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946. She and her husband L.K. Burcham met as children, having lived less than a quarter mile apart. They married in 1950 when she became a homemaker in the truest sense, being completely devoted to her husband and eight children. Gloria was gentle, sweet, dignified, passionate and shy, while being always a woman of manners. She enjoyed traveling with L.K as they pursued their interest in antiques. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church for 55 years. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Ava Froehlich, Tom Froehlich, P.J. Froehlich, Jim Froehlich, Helen Franey, Louise Haynes, and June Clark.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, L.K. Burcham; her children Choya (Kim) Burcham, Kim (Sonja) Burcham, Rick (Betty) Burcham, Kenny Burcham, Kelly (Bryan) Hedges and Kevin (Tammy) Burcham, all of Owensboro; Barry (Joanna) Burcham of Pleasant View, TN, and Kay (Mark) Rountree of Louisville; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Bill Froehlich, Norman (Joan) Froehlich, Shirley Jarboe and Sylvia Heflin.

The funeral mass for Mrs. Burcham will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral and Crematory where prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
