Glenita Quarles Bruington

Glenita Quarles Bruington, 81 of Maceo went to be with her Lord Monday, January 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Orlinda, TN on March 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Quarles and Vela Kinslow Crowe Bell. Mrs. Bruington was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to nine children, 24 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren. She was raised in the Methodist church and was a member of Southside Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed crocheting and reading her Bible. Mrs. Bruington lived on Carpenter's Lake with her husband for over 50 years where they enjoyed hosting family gatherings and fishing. She taught many family members and others how to fillet fish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Quarles Chandler and a brother, J.L. Quarles.

Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Hubert Bruington, Sr.; children, Hubert (Jan) Bruington, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Molly Bruington of Owensboro, Judy (Jim) Roberts of Hartford, Debbie (Rev. Carl) Vanover of Owensboro, Steve Bruington of Maceo, Sheila Denson of Owensboro, Sharon (Ricky) Payne of Masonville, Cathy Cotton of Owensboro and Karen (Ricky) Cotton of Maceo; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nina Jones of Owensboro; sisters-in-law, Martha Alexander, Alice Smith, and Ruth Wooldridge, all of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Carl Vanover officiating. Burial will be in Harned Cemetery in Hardinsburg with Rev. Don Bruington officiating at the graveside. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
