Glendol Miller Newman

Glendol Miller Newman, 71, of 4720 Loftwood Drive died Wednesday, November 26, 2003. Born in Adairville, a son of the late Otha and Bea Wheat Newman, Mr. Newman retired from the Owensboro Board of Education after more than three decades of service. During his career in education he served as teacher, guidance counselor and vice principal of Southern Junior High School. He also served as principal of Southern Middle School and vice principal of Owensboro High School. He ended his career with the Owensboro Board of Education as supervisor of maintenance and director of transportation. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he attended the University of Kentucky and was a graduate of Western Kentucky University. His interests included time spent with his grandchildren, University of Kentucky athletics, fishing at Kentucky Lake and Owensboro High School football. He was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jane O'Bryan Newman; his daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Joe Prince of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Ashley Prince and Kal Prince of Owensboro;; and a brother, Bobby Newman of Miami.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Saturday and after noon Sunday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
