Glendel Lee Ruby

September 20, 1938 — January 18, 2012

Glendel L. Ruby, 73, of Owensboro, passed away on January 18, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County to the late James Walker and Bessie C. Ruby and was a 1956 Graduate of Daviess County High School.

Glendel had most recently worked as a truck driver for BFL Inc. in Rockport, Indiana. Prior to that, he worked for HON Manufacturing where he was also an over the road truck driver.

He was a lifetime member of Masonville United Methodist Church. Glendel was an avid U.K. and NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Reathel E. Ruby in 2000.

Glendel is survived by a daughter, Susan (Ruby) Conner (Scott Reynolds) of Brentwood, TN; 5 step children; 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Ryan, Jacob, Joshua, Jonah, Tyler and Trey Robertson; sister in law, Margie Ruby of Owensboro; nieces, Gloria Vanover, of Owensboro, Wanda Gatewood, of Owensboro and Barbara Gleeson of Longwood, FL; great nieces and nephews; several cousins and a beloved granddog, Zachary.


The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Glenn Cox will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Friday from 12 noon until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Masonville United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.
