Gladys Lee Kirkman, 61, of Owensboro, passed away on April 7, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Gladys was born in Hickman, Kentucky. Her parents were the late Mary Ruth Rushing and Charles E. Anderson. When Gladys was just twelve years old Mr. Anderson passed away. Soon thereafter, Mrs. Rushing married Bobby Rushing who served as a proud father to Gladys until his passing.
Gladys moved to Owensboro with her family at the age of 17. She met her husband, B. Daniel Kirkman at Daviess County high school. Gladys also attended Owensboro Business College.
She retired from Unifirst last year. Gladys attended River Tree church (formerly Family Worship Center). She was an avid Bunko player, a music fan and enjoyed bingo and crime based television shows.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 43 years, B. Daniel Kirkman; a daughter, Danielle Bartlett (Jeff) of Clarksville, TN; sons, D. Scott Kirkman and Jereme B. Kirkman, both of Owensboro; twelve grandchildren; sisters, Mary O'Neil Davis of Florida and Michelle Anderson Cox of Owensboro; a brother, James Edward Anderson of Fulton, KY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends, including: Cinde Alford, Shantele Kirkman, Jennifer Kirkman and Beth Owens.
The funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, April 10 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Bro. Jack Carter will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and on Wednesday after 10 AM at the funeral home.
