Ginger Leigh Wilcox Schnepp, 38, of Owensboro, passed away February 3, 2011. Born in Yokosuka, Japan, during her life she lived in Key West, Jacksonville, Saudi Arabia, and Birmingham, where she graduated from Berry High School. While at Berry, she was active in the marching band and a woodwind player, including flute, piccolo, and oboe. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force as a medical technician. Ginger moved to Owensboro in 1995 and was a graduate of the Owensboro Community College with an associates degree in human services. She was very active in the community, having worked with the Red Cross and with search and rescue operations. Her life was built around service to people, with her proudest accomplishments being successful rescues. She had a very strong spiritual Christian faith and a love for nature and all animals. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy Jean Wilcox-Jones in November of 2010.
Surviving Ginger are her husband, Captain Marc Schnepp; her daughter, Chelsea McKinnon of Owensboro; her father and step-mother, Thomas and Kathryn Wilcox of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and her sisters Meredith Gabbert and her husband Zach, of Owensboro, and Lindsay Sheffield of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Cindy Bond; a brother-in-law, Dennis Schnepp; a host of extended family, and her Black Labrador, Goofy.
The funeral service for Ginger, officiated by Dr. Dennis McFadden, will be at 12:00 noon Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
