Gilbert Lee Lindsey

Gilbert Lee Lindsey, 79, of Philpot died on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Daviess County to the late Simon I. and Louise Lindsey.

Gilbert was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a plumber and member of the Local #633 Plumber's and Pipefitter's Union for more than 50 years.

Gilbert was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. He enjoyed the farm life, woodworking, making rosaries, reading and gardening. In their retirement years Gilbert and Mary Ann made many memories while travelling the country in an RV for 22 years. Much of his joy came from his grandchildren. They spent many hours playing cards and other games together. He will be missed by many.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Debby Stallings in 2010; a sister, Mary Rose Whitehouse; and brothers, James, Roy, Dan, Simon and Samuel (infant twins).

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Lindsey; sons, Pat Lindsey (Dana) of Hancock County, Lee Lindsey (Jenny) of Philpot and Tim Lindsey of Knottsville; son-in-law, Ed Stallings of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren; a great grandchild; brother-in-law, Gordon Whitehouse of Owensboro; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be held at Noon on Monday, November 18 at St. Pius Catholic Church. Fr. Edward Bradley and Fr. Julian Ibemere will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 PM (with prayers at 4) and on Monday after 10:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Pius Chapter of St. Vincent De Paul or St. Pius Building Fund 3418 U.S. Hwy 60 E Owensboro, KY 42303.
