G.H. "Pete" Williams, 71, of Owensboro passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home. Mr. Williams was born January 23, 1946 in Daviess County to the late George Herbert Williams and Catherine Myers Williams. Pete was an army veteran who served in Vietnam. After the military, Pete earned his MBA and was a social worker for the State of Kentucky. He later worked as Corporate Sales Manager for Conwed Plastics, retiring after 30 years. After retiring, "Mr. Pete" served the students of three Owensboro Schools in many ways while he was working on his M.A. in Special Education. He was also a devout UK fan, a member of Settle Memorial UMC, and went on several mission trips. Being an extremely benevolent and caring person with a big heart, Pete was always helping others whether it was providing material and financial assistance or rides to school in cold weather. He possessed multifaceted abilities and talents and had diverse knowledge in many areas. With the guidance of his brother-in-law, Bill Salmon, Pete became an exceptional father and proved his greatest love and affection for his daughter, Nolia, whom he adored and provided for in every way.
Besides his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Florence Myers and his sister Barbara Salmon.
Those left to cherish his memory include Mary Williams and his daughter, Nolia Williams; nephews, Mike Salmon and wife Marijane of Owensboro, John Salmon and wife Stacy of Crestwood; nieces, Judy Byrd and husband Glenn of Glasgow and Nancy Martin of Louisville; many great nieces and nephews; many special life-long friends; the staff and students at Foust, Cravens, and Owensboro Middles Schools.
The service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Settle Memoria UMC with Rev. Darren Brandon officiating. Interment will be in Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Tuesday from 10:00 AM at the church.
