Geraldine Rhoades, 100, of Owensboro died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Heartford House. She was born in Spencer County, IN to the late Cord V. and Opal Huffman Dooley, was a member of the Living Faith Baptist Church in Ohio County, and enjoyed sewing, gardening, visits from her grandchildren and time spent with family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl F. Rhoades, brothers, Argyl Dooley and Argo Dooley and sisters, Gwendoline Baker Goldman and Opal Mae Deeg.
Survivors include her children, Shirley Ann Bartlett (Edgar) of Utica, James C. Rhoades of Brandenberg and Franklin D. Rhoades (Betty) of Dale, IN; grandchildren, Byron Rhoades (Lucy), Cheryl Jean Brown (Roger), Jay Tyler Rhoades, Christina Schmitt, Kelly Kinney (David), Franklin Rhoades (Stephanie), Jan Lee Oller (W.O.) and Cindy Wright (Freddie); 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
