Gerald N. Sims, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Owensboro, KY. Born in New Orleans, LA on November 2, 1924, the son of the late Harry Vernon Sims and Catherine Roger Sims, he was a graduate of Tulane University and Tulane University School of Law. He practiced law in New Orleans for many years before retiring to Pass Christian, MS and later to Owensboro, KY. Mr. Sims was a Navy veteran of World War II. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Lois Waite Sims in 1972, his second wife, Marilyn Simpson Sims in 2004, and a son, Robert Vernon Sims in 1990.
He is survived by his son, Gerald N. Sims, Jr., M.D.; his daughter, Catherine S. Sewell; his step-daughter, Missy J. Adam; and four grandchildren, Paul Sims, Carl Sims, Laura Sims, and Logan Sewell.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be in Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, LA following a visitation there from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
