Gerald Adams "Jerry" Price

Gerald Adams "Jerry" Price II, 93, was called home by God, Wednesday, December 07, 2016 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family. He was born September 9, 1923 to the late Gerald Adams Price and Kathleen Adams Price in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He later lived in Ravenswood, West Virginia where he graduated from high school in 1941. He played four years of football and basketball. He attended West Virginia University for one year before volunteering for military service December 7, 1942 during WW II. Following basic training he was shipped to Guam with the 330th Bomb Group where he served as Staff Sergeant with the 20th Airforce.

In 1946 he returned to West Virginia University. In 1947 he married Maxine Morehead. The two of them returned to West Virginia University, living in a trailer camp on campus which was only for married G.I.'s. Following graduation in 1950 they moved to Welch, West Virginia where he was superintendent of Acme Construction Company. A son, Gerald A. Price III was born in 1952. In 1954 they moved to Owensboro where he worked for Murray Tile (later called American Olean) in Lewisport as director of purchasing and personnel. He retired from the company in 1986. A daughter, Patti Ann Price was born in 1959.

Jerry became a member of First Presbyterian Church 1954 where he was a deacon and head usher for many years. He was a people person and his radiant smile touched many lives. Family life was very important to Jerry and he actively supported his children and grandchildren in their various activities. He loved sports, particularly playing golf with friends and family and watching UK basketball.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Maxine; a son, Gerald Adams "Jerry/Jeep" Price III and his wife Glenda; a daughter, Patti Price of Utica; grandchildren, Holly Shannon Price of Cincinnati, OH, Lindsey Danielle Price of Louisville and Gerald Adams "Jerry" Price IV and his wife Micah of Utica.

The memorial service will be 3 PM CST Sunday, December 11 at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation on Saturday will be from 1 until 5 PM CST at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may also visit Sunday after 1:30 PM CST at the church. Interment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
