Jerry Jackson, 68, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born November 14, 1947 in Daviess Co. to the late Ivan Edward and Margaret Catherine Welch Jackson. Jerry had retired from Daramic, Inc. and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient and also had received several medals including the Vietnam Combat Medal and Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Marksmanship Medal, and two Overseas Service Bars. He was of the Catholic faith, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696, and loved fishing. Jerry had many great friends that he was very close to.
Surviving are his sons, James Edward Jackson (Rhiannon White) of Henderson and Russ Michael Jackson (Jennifer Gilkey) of London, England, Gayle Mattingly Jackson (loving mother to their sons), a brother, John (Shelley) Jackson of Bowling Green, a nephew, Scott (Stacey) Jackson of Germany, a niece, Amy Jackson Morgan of Franklin, TN, extended family, Jim (Evelyn) Mattingly, Jeff (Chrisie) Mattingly, Rhonda (Richard) Beck, Greg Mattingly, and several great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 17, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where military honors will be held. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. that Sunday at the funeral home.
