Gerald Douglas Hall

Gerald D. Hall, 68 of Utica went to be with his Savior on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System surrounded by his family. Born November 19, 1940 in Salem, MO, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Kathleen Gaines Hall; was a member of the Catholic faith; and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Hall was a graduate of Oakwood Township High School where he was a 4-year starter in football earning the nickname "Tank" and selection to the All-Conference team; President of the Vermillon County 4-H; and was an avid St Louis Cardinal and University of Kentucky fan. He and his wife founded and operated S&G Concessions in Louisville in 1989. Mr. Hall was a very loving man and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His special sense of humor will be greatly missed. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by a daughter, Vonnie Toler; grandchildren; Jason Livers, Jarod McCollam; Jeremy Brown, and Kirk Edward Reed; and sons-in-law, Edward R. Reed and James W. Ranson.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Brown Hall; children, Dee Reed Ranson, Donnie Brown, Joe Brown, and Jerry Brown all of Owensboro, Reba McCollam of Houston, TX, Kay (Jim) Lockhart of Evansville, and Shawna Simmons of Owensboro; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Hall of Iowa; and a sister, Janet Hillock of New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 12 noon Wednesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Diabetes Association.
